In Belbari-3, Karmadanada, Morang, a young elephant, estimated to be three to four years old, has been found dead. Residents Anita Thapa and Rekha Thapa discovered the carcass on their private forest land this morning.
According to Yogendra Prasad Subedi, the ward chairman of Belbari Municipality-3, the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities. Teams from the Sub-Division Forest Office Belbari, the Belbari Area Police Office, and the Armed Police Force Base Camp Lakshmimarg have arrived at the scene to collect evidence.
Hemant Parajuli, the acting chief of the Division Forest Office, stated that the cause of the elephant’s death is currently unknown. Additionally, a team from the National Nature Conservation Fund, stationed in the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in Sunsari, is on its way to the site to assist with the investigation.
