Youth from Chutreni in Beni Municipality-6, Myagdi, have constructed tourism infrastructure with earnings from a fair. Members of ‘The Monsoon Youth Club’ from Beni-5 and 6 have developed a garden with a picnic spot in Chutreni.
Club president Dinesh Baniya shared that the funds raised from a fair held during Teej, along with voluntary labor, were used to create the tourism facilities. “We spent NPR 80,000 to build iron benches, footpaths, waste management facilities, and a traditional resting place (Chautari),” he said. “The earnings from the fair were also used to buy paint for the tall Sissoo trees in the garden.”
In addition to cash, 15 club members contributed five days of voluntary labor each. Dustbins have been installed for waste management. Chutreni, located about four kilometers west of Beni Bazaar, is situated along the banks of the Myagdi River. This garden, nestled within the forest and by the riverside, provides a cool retreat, especially in the summer.
Locals suggest that the garden in Chutreni is an ideal destination for relaxation, stress management, and enjoying a serene environment. The garden is near the Beni-Darbang road leading to Singa Tatopani. Tall Sissoo trees in the forest have been painted to enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal.
The footpaths have been paved with gravel, commonly used for road construction, and stones on either side of the paths have been arranged attractively. Previously, shelters and public toilets had already been constructed in the garden. The area is suitable for gatherings, meetings, and cultural programs.
