108-Foot Saraswati Statue Under Construction

The construction of a 108-foot-tall statue of Goddess Saraswati has begun in Chareli, Changunarayan Municipality-8.

Today, the mayor of Changunarayan Municipality, Jeevan Khatri, laid the foundation stone for the statue at Bhutekodanda in Chareli, expressing confidence that the area will become a religious and tourist destination once the statue is completed.

Parasar Sapkota, the chairman of the statue construction committee, stated that the project will cost NPR 420 million, with NPR 1.35 million provided by the municipality, while the remaining funds are being collected through donations.

During the event, Ward Chairman Janak Khatri, Shyamakrishna Nhyaju Shrestha, and others remarked that the completion of the statue would turn Chareli into a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists.
