Sophie, the wife of British Prince Edward, has arrived in Kathmandu for an official visit. She landed at Tribhuvan International Airport this morning, where she was welcomed by officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and staff from the British Embassy in Nepal.
Following her arrival, Sophie proceeded to the British Embassy in Lainchaur. Prince Edward is expected to arrive in Kathmandu later, after which the royal couple will visit Sheetal Niwas at 3:45 PM to meet with President Ramchandra Paudel. They will then return to Lainchaur after their formal engagements.

The British royal couple is scheduled to stay in Nepal for six days and will depart for the UK on the evening of Magh 27. During their visit, they will travel to Pokhara, where they will visit the British Gurkha Camp. According to British media reports, they will also attend a badge distribution parade for newly selected Nepali recruits in the British Army. This event marks the formal induction of new Nepali soldiers into the British military.
Additionally, as part of their itinerary, the couple is set to take a private helicopter tour of the Annapurna mountain range, facilitated by the Nepalese Army. They will also engage with organizations supporting healthcare, human trafficking survivors, and gender violence victims in Nepal.

Sophie, who is a champion of the United Nations’ Women, Peace, and Security agenda, has been actively involved in combating human trafficking. During her visit to Malta in October, she participated in discussions with members of Malta’s police force and human rights directorate on supporting trafficking victims.
According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, this visit will celebrate the strong ties between the United Kingdom and Nepal while reinforcing mutual interests in youth opportunities, healthcare, gender equality, environmental conservation, and biodiversity. The visit marks a significant moment in Nepal-UK relations, reflecting the historical and diplomatic bond shared between the two nations.
