Dogadakedar’s Shree Ram Temple Welcomes Grand 21-Foot Lord Ram Idol

A 21-foot-tall idol of Lord Ram has been constructed at Shree Ram Temple in Panjyunaya, Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-6. According to Veer Singh Karki, chairman of the Ram Idol Construction Committee, the statue was built with donations amounting to NPR 500,000 from both domestic and international devotees. He stated, “We have constructed a 21-foot-tall Ram idol with collected donations. Additional works, including exterior painting of the temple, are ongoing.”

The formal inauguration (Pran Pratistha) of the idol is scheduled for Chaitra 24, coinciding with Ram Navami. A grand traditional fair is held on this occasion, attracting devotees from Baitadi, Darchula, and various parts of Sudurpaschim Province. The Skanda Purana also mentions the religious significance of this site.

Located at the confluence of the Jamadi and Chaulani rivers, the temple is a revered pilgrimage site for devotees from Baitadi’s former Dhik region (now Dogadakedar and Dilasaini Rural Municipalities) and Darchula’s Shailyashikhar Municipality and Lekam Rural Municipality. The tradition of organizing a grand fair on Ram Navami has continued for generations, as stated by Nain Singh Goyal, a member of the idol construction committee. Various religious ceremonies, including pilgrimages, vows, marriages, and ancestral rituals, are performed at this sacred site.

Committee Chairman Karki also revealed plans to construct a Homkund (sacred fire altar) in the near future. Additionally, residents Baldev Singh Karki, Krishna Singh Karki, Bhanu Singh Karki, and Ganesh Singh Karki have donated land to expand the temple premises.
