30-Foot Buddha Statue Unveiled on Bhuichalo Hill to Boost Tourism in Banepa

On Bhuichalo Hill in the historic town of Nalā, Banepa Municipality, a Buddha statue thirty feet tall has been erected. The statue, which is situated in Banepa-4, was constructed to encourage both domestic and foreign travel.

About NPR 4 million was spent on the construction. According to Ganesh Moktan, the chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party’s (UML) Namo Buddha Municipality Committee, the statue was made possible by donations from the foothills of Nagarkot in order to draw tourists. He claimed that a Lama had consecrated the statue in accordance with Buddhist rites.

The Buddha statue was constructed to foster religious harmony, and a life-size statue of Brahma with his ten avatars is also nearby. Built at the location a few years ago, the Brahma statue is regarded as the first of its kind in Asia.

The Buddha statue next to Brahma’s statue, according to locals, is meant to turn Bhuichalo Hill into a place of worship and tourism. Additionally, Moktan disclosed that work on a “Therapy Park” has started at the location of the Buddha statue.

“The Bagmati Province Government has given us a budget of NPR 16.5 million for park construction, and we will shortly begin construction on the Therapy Park,” he stated. In order to promote the region as a tourist destination, he added, additional physical infrastructure will be developed gradually.
