7,000 Lamps Lit In Lumbini For World Peace

With a wish for world peace, 7,000 lamps were lit at Lumbini Square on Saturday evening, following the conclusion of the Fourth International Tripitaka Recitation Ceremony. Organized by the Dhammakaya Foundation, the event saw participation from monks, nuns, Lama gurus, Anis, lay devotees, and 500 short-term ordained monks.

The lamps were arranged in the shape of the Dharmachakra, with the Nepali flag at the center. President of the All Nepal Bhikkhu Association, Dhammalok Mahasthavir, inaugurated the ceremony. At the same time, the Vice President of the Lumbini Development Trust, Dr. Lharkyal Lama, emphasized the importance of such events in spreading Buddha’s teachings globally.

Advisors and dignitaries from various Buddhist organizations, including Thai Dhammakaya and Lumbini Buddhist University, highlighted the ceremony’s significance. They noted that just as the lamps dispel darkness, Buddha’s teachings bring enlightenment, unity, and peace.

Meanwhile, the four-day Fourth International Tripitaka Recitation Ceremony, organized by the All Nepal Bhikkhu Association with support from the Lumbini Development Trust, concluded at the Mayadevi Temple premises. Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya, officially closed the event, urging the global promotion of Buddha’s teachings. Speakers emphasized the scientific and timeless relevance of Buddha’s message and its role in fostering peace and harmony.

Lumbini Development Trust officials stated that the Tripitaka Recitation played a crucial role in promoting Lumbini as a spiritual and tourist destination. The event saw participation from over 400 individuals, including monks, nuns, Lamas, and lay devotees. Organizers also honored contributors who supported the ceremony, recognizing their efforts in preserving and spreading Buddha’s wisdom.
