Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has emphasized that tourism development is not a one-day campaign but a continuous effort that requires systematic planning.

Speaking at a policy discussion on “Koshi Tourism Year 2082,” organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Forests, and Environment in Itahari today, he stressed the need for a long-term vision in promoting and developing tourism. “Tourism development is not a one-day event like a wedding celebration; it requires years of effort. A strong tourism sector can contribute to national capital formation,” he stated.

Highlighting the importance of coordination between the government, private sector, and administrative mechanisms, CM Karki noted that differing perspectives could hinder implementation. He urged Koshi Province to set an example in tourism development, inspiring both central and local governments.

He further emphasized the necessity of structural, policy, and legal reforms for tourism promotion. Engaging youth in tourism promotion, he said, would help convey the message that the sector can contribute to the nation’s bright future.
