A six-month Chinese language training program for Nepal’s tourism professionals concluded on Monday in Kathmandu. The program was jointly organized by the Nepal Tourism Board, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and the Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Council.
The training aimed to enhance the ability of Nepalese tourism professionals to engage effectively with Chinese tourists and provide them with better services.
A total of 100 participants enrolled in this year’s program, with 40 of them successfully achieving proficiency in the Chinese language according to the established standards and receiving certificates.
These trained participants are now equipped to handle the growing influx of Chinese tourists visiting Nepal.
Speaking at the event, Hikmat Singh Aire, Senior Director of the Nepal Tourism Board, emphasized the importance of language proficiency. “Language is the foundation of effective service and hospitality in the tourism industry. Programs like this contribute to making Nepal’s tourism sector internationally competitive,” he said.
The Deputy Head of Mission at the Chinese Embassy, Xin, remarked that the program would further strengthen the deep cultural, social, and economic ties between Nepal and China.
The closing ceremony was attended by notable personalities including Ramkrishna Lamichhane, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation; Hikmat Singh Aire, Senior Director of the Nepal Tourism Board; Wang Xin, Deputy Head of Mission at the Chinese Embassy; and Harishchandra Shah, Chairman of the Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Council.
