For the first time, a tourist police post has been established in the Doti district to ensure the safety and support of travelers visiting the Khaptad region and nearby tourist destinations. This move aims to promote tourism in the Far-Western region of Nepal by providing a secure environment for both domestic and international visitors.
According to Banjisingh Khadka, Mayor of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality, the temporary tourist police post will be located within the municipality. It will serve as a key facility to protect tourists and assist them during their stay in and around the Khaptad National Park, a major attraction known for its natural beauty, cultural significance, and spiritual appeal.
Mayor Khadka said, “Khaptad is one of the main tourist destinations in the Far West. To ensure the safety and support of the increasing number of tourists, both local and foreign, we’ve established this tourist police post in collaboration with the local administration and Nepal Police.”
The tourist police post will operate under the command of Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramesh Bhattarai, with a team of seven police personnel stationed at the post. Their responsibilities include providing assistance to tourists, ensuring safety in the area, offering information about the region, and coordinating with relevant agencies in case of emergencies.
This initiative is expected to encourage more tourists to explore the serene landscapes and cultural richness of the Khaptad area, thereby contributing to the overall tourism development of Sudurpaschim Province.
