In a landmark announcement, Everest Alliance Nepal has officially unveiled the first-ever Everest Summiteers Summit 2025, scheduled to take place on May 27, 2025 (Jestha 13, 2082) at The Soaltee, Kathmandu. The announcement was made during a press conference held in the capital, where the organizers shared key highlights and objectives of the event. Themed “Honoring the Legends, Inspiring the Future,” this historic gathering aims to bring together the global Everest summiteer community to celebrate the extraordinary spirit of mountaineering.
The Everest Summiteers Summit 2025 is poised to be a monumental tribute to human courage, endurance, and achievement. Over 175 Everest summiteers, both national and international, from 16 countries, will converge in Kathmandu alongside influential personalities from the fields of mountaineering, environmental conservation, tourism, science, media, and government. According to Everest Alliance Nepal, this summit will be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of those who have dared to ascend the highest peak on Earth and will create a powerful platform for dialogue on sustainability and unity in the Himalayan region.
A Tribute to the Human Spirit and the Top of the World
In what promises to be a deeply emotional and symbolic moment, the event will honor Mr. Kancha Sherpa, the last living member of the 1953 historic Everest expedition, with the prestigious “Everest Lifetime Achievement Award”. Mr. Sherpa’s lifelong contribution to the history of Himalayan mountaineering has left an indelible mark, and this recognition underscores his vital role in shaping the Everest legacy.

One of the most anticipated segments of the summit will be “Remembering Everest Eternal,” a tribute to the memory and legacy of all Everest summiteers, especially those who lost their lives in pursuit of the summit. The summit will also recognize the extraordinary achievements of past and present summiteers, who continue to inspire generations with their stories of resilience and bravery.
The summit is not limited to celebration alone; it seeks to advance vital conversations on the future of the Himalayas. A series of inspirational panel discussions will be led by representatives from renowned global and regional organizations, including ICIMOD, IUCN, WWF, ZSL, NTNC, and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality. These sessions will focus on mountain conservation, high-altitude ecosystems, and the sustainable development of fragile Himalayan landscapes.
Commemorating Everest’s Legacy
Two standout sessions include “Legends Speak: Inspiring the Future,” where prominent summiters will share their personal journeys and insights, and “Solidarity for Everest: A Global Approach,” aimed at fostering international cooperation for the protection and sustainable promotion of Everest and its surrounding regions.
Attendees will also be treated to art and photo exhibitions, alongside immersive Everest story rooms showcasing the triumphs, challenges, and unique narratives of mountaineers from around the world. These exhibits will offer a deep, emotional connection to the journeys of those who have stood atop the world’s highest summit.

Miss Aju Sitaula, Chief Operating Officer of Everest Alliance Nepal and the head of the program, emphasized the importance of this summit as a voice for the Himalayas: “The summit will serve as a launchpad for global awareness, amplifying the voice of the mountains. It is more than a gathering, it’s a movement for conservation, respect, and unity.”
Chairperson Mr. Sudarshan Nepal highlighted the mission behind Everest Alliance Nepal, stating: “We are a non-political, non-shareholding organization committed to promoting sustainability and resilience. Our goal is to encourage unity and collaboration while empowering mountain communities through innovation and growth.”
The Everest Summiteers Summit 2025 is expected to leave a lasting impact not just as a tribute to the mountaineers who have conquered Everest, but also as a call to action for global collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by high-altitude regions due to climate change, over-tourism, and environmental degradation.
As the countdown begins, Everest Alliance Nepal invites all stakeholders, from seasoned climbers to passionate conservationists, to be a part of this visionary summit that celebrates past triumphs while shaping a sustainable future for the Himalayas. The event will symbolize the unity of the global mountaineering community and the shared responsibility of preserving the world’s most iconic mountain.
