Thai Airways and Turkish Airlines Seal Powerful Partnership to Expand Reach

In a significant move to enhance global connectivity and passenger convenience, Thai Airways (THAI) and Turkish Airlines have signed a strategic Joint Business Agreement (JBA). The landmark agreement was formalized today at the 81st International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in New Delhi, India.

THAI and Turkish Airlines sign Joint Business Agreement

The signing ceremony featured Mr. Chai Eamsiri, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Airways, and Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board of Turkish Airlines, symbolizing a strengthened partnership between the two leading carriers and Star Alliance members.

This collaboration builds upon the successful launch of THAI’s daily nonstop Bangkok–Istanbul flights, which began operations in December 2023. The JBA aims to deepen cooperation by integrating codeshare flights, thereby providing passengers with seamless connectivity not only between Thailand and Türkiye but also to a broader range of international destinations served by both airlines.

Under the agreement, the codeshare flights are slated to commence during the Winter 2025–2026 schedule, pending regulatory approvals from relevant authorities. This expansion aligns with Thai Airways’ Network Airline strategy, designed to optimize route networks and enhance passenger experience through coordinated schedules and shared resources.

Both airlines have expressed plans to extend this partnership to additional routes in the near future, signaling a mutual commitment to fostering tourism, business travel, and economic ties between the regions.

The Joint Business Agreement is expected to offer travelers greater flexibility, more competitive fares, and improved connectivity options. It also reflects a broader trend in the aviation industry where airlines seek strategic alliances to navigate a competitive and evolving global market.

With this agreement, passengers flying between Asia and Europe can anticipate smoother transfers, better coordinated services, and a unified travel experience under the trusted brands of Thai Airways and Turkish Airlines.
