Foreign Minister Deuba’s Inauguration of Bagaincha Resort Signals New Era in Adventure and Wellness Tourism

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has hailed Pokhara as a burgeoning hub of adventure tourism, emphasizing its natural beauty and potential for sustainable development. She made these remarks during the inauguration of the Bagaincha Resort & Spa, operated by Ansuvara Group, held at Lakeside, Pokhara today.

A City of Natural Charm

Recalling her childhood visit to Pokhara, Minister Deuba expressed that the city’s charm had captivated her even back then. “Pokhara has already established itself as a naturally beautiful city,” she said, appreciating how the area has continued to evolve into a key tourist destination over the years. Her remarks resonated with the scenic identity of Pokhara, which has become synonymous with serenity and adventure.

Climate Change Demands Vigilance

Minister Deuba also touched on the rising impacts of climate change, emphasizing the growing threats of both droughts and excessive rainfall across the region. Referring to recent news of floods in neighboring areas to the north and south, she stressed the need for Nepal to remain vigilant and proactive. “We must focus our efforts on sustainable development through collaboration and coordination to mitigate the effects of climate change,” she noted.

She praised Nepal’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and acknowledged the resort’s eco-conscious ethos. “Bagaincha Resort has given priority to environmental values, and it is commendable,” she remarked.

Dr. Deuba further highlighted the significance of creating opportunities within the country, saying, “This resort sends a message that something meaningful can be achieved within our homeland. While working abroad may generate income, contributing to your own country brings both respect and legacy.”

Pokhara: A Gift of Nature

Also speaking at the event, former Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Khagaraj Adhikari, referred to Pokhara as “a gift of nature.” He underlined that 68% of tourists visiting Nepal seek adventure-based experiences, with Pokhara being a prime destination. He contextualized Pokhara’s importance by noting its historical connection to Nepal’s unification and linguistic heritage, referencing King Prithvi Narayan Shah and poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.

A Vision Rooted in Entrepreneurship

Bindu Kumar Thapa, Gandaki Province’s Minister for Social Development and Chairman of Ansuvara Group, shared his vision for linking tourism, entrepreneurship, and employment. He stated that the Bagaincha Resort & Spa represents the group’s commitment to innovative and locally grounded development.

The resort’s Managing Director, Saugat Thapa, said it was born from a deep desire to contribute to the nation. “The name ‘Bagaincha’ (garden) symbolizes harmony with nature. People cannot stay away from nature, and this hospitality venture is designed to bring them closer,” he said.

He emphasized that the resort offers all the professional amenities visitors seek, delivered in a tranquil, eco-friendly atmosphere. “We are promoting the message that protecting nature is everyone’s responsibility. All the materials used here are environmentally friendly, ensuring that neither guests nor the environment is harmed,” he added.

A Blend of Nature, Wellness, and Culture

Thapa highlighted that the resort offers a complete spa experience as implied by its name. Services include traditional Nepali healing techniques, massage therapies, sound healing (singing bowl therapy), serene yoga sessions, and mental wellness-focused designs, all integrated into the natural surroundings of the resort.

The resort features two restaurants, ‘Marich’ which offers Indo-Chinese and continental cuisine, and ‘Umami,’ specializing in refined Pan-Asian dishes. A poolside bar named “Taro” adds another layer of attraction to the resort’s hospitality offerings. “Depending on the season, we provide fresh vegetables and other organic ingredients,” said Thapa.

Luxury Amidst Greenery

Bagaincha Resort & Spa offers four categories of rooms for its guests: Standard Room, Executive Room, Arbor Suite, and Garden Suite. “All 32 rooms come with private balconies, offering a sweeping view of lush greenery and peaceful surroundings,” Thapa said enthusiastically.

Room prices range from USD 150 to USD 350 per night, catering to both national and international guests seeking comfort amid nature. Constructed over 4.5 ropanis (approximately 0.23 hectares) of land with a total investment of NPR 700 million (around USD 5.3 million), the resort stands as a significant addition to Pokhara’s growing tourism infrastructure.

A Sustainable Vision for the Future

The inauguration of Bagaincha Resort & Spa marks more than just a business launch, it symbolizes a growing trend toward eco-conscious, culturally-rooted tourism in Nepal. As Pokhara continues to rise as a global destination for adventure and leisure, initiatives like Bagaincha serve as beacons of sustainable development, blending natural beauty with thoughtful hospitality.

Minister Deuba’s message was clear: building within Nepal not only strengthens the local economy but fosters national pride and preserves the very essence of what makes Nepal unique, its land, culture, and people.
