Monsoon Weather Update: Rainfall Across Various Provinces

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reports the ongoing influence of monsoon winds across the country. The monsoon trough remains south of its average position, resulting in generally cloudy conditions throughout Nepal.

Currently, light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, as well as in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces.

The department predicts that the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, as well as in some areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim Provinces. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations within Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.

Tonight, the weather is forecasted to stay partly to generally cloudy across the nation. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces, as well as in some parts of Madhesh Province. Heavy rainfall is also anticipated in one or two locations in the Sudurpashchim, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces.

The department warns that many places in Sudurpashchim Province, as well as some areas in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Madhesh Provinces, may experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. Moreover, one or two locations in Sudurpashchim, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces are likely to receive heavy rainfall. The department urges people in these regions to be cautious of potential landslides, floods, and debris flows.

In a weather bulletin issued this morning, the department advises adopting necessary precautions due to the possibility of heavy rainfall affecting daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air transportation in the affected areas.
