More than Rs 3.1 million in religious offerings were collected at the sacred Pathibhara (Mukkumlung) Temple during the Nepali month of Falgun. The amount was contributed by thousands of devotees who visited the revered temple to offer prayers and seek blessings.
According to the details made public by the Pathibhara Area Development Committee, a total of Rs 3.11 million was collected from offerings made by pilgrims throughout the month. The temple, which is regarded as one of the most important religious destinations in eastern Nepal, continues to attract a large number of devotees every year from different parts of the country as well as from abroad.
Officials from the committee stated that the offerings collected during the month represent the deep faith and devotion that pilgrims hold toward the temple. Pathibhara Temple has long been considered a sacred site for worshippers who visit to pray for prosperity, peace, and the fulfillment of their wishes.

Transparent and Secure Collection Process
The Pathibhara Area Development Committee has emphasized that the collection and management of offerings are carried out through a transparent and secure process. According to Executive Director Prajin Hangbang, the offerings made by pilgrims at the temple are carefully collected by committee staff in the presence of the Nepal Police to ensure accountability and security.
Once the offerings are gathered, the collected amount is securely packed in sealed bags with official wax seals. These sealed packages are then transported safely from the temple premises down to the base area known as Phedi.
The committee has established a systematic process to ensure that the offerings remain secure throughout the collection and transportation stages. The presence of security personnel and strict procedures is intended to maintain transparency and prevent any mishandling of funds.
Counting and Banking of Offerings
After the offerings are brought to Phedi, they are stored securely for approximately one week. Following this period, the sealed packages are transported to the committee’s office located in the district headquarters of Phungling.
At the office, the collected offerings are opened and counted under strict monitoring. The counting process is conducted in the presence of security personnel and under CCTV surveillance to maintain transparency. The committee has stated that the entire procedure follows a standard protocol to ensure proper handling and accurate accounting of the funds.
Once the counting process is completed, the collected amount is deposited in a bank. Officials say this system helps maintain financial discipline while ensuring that the offerings contributed by devotees are managed responsibly.
Thousands of Pilgrims Visit the Temple
Statistics released by the committee show that 18,652 devotees visited Pathibhara Temple during the month of Falgun alone. The steady flow of pilgrims highlights the temple’s importance as both a religious and cultural destination.
Situated in eastern Nepal, Pathibhara Temple is widely recognized as a major pilgrimage site for Hindu and Kirati followers. Devotees believe that prayers offered at the temple bring blessings and fulfill heartfelt wishes.
Every year, thousands of pilgrims undertake the journey to the temple, many of them trekking long distances to reach the sacred site.
