Growing Potential of the Russian Market

Russia is increasingly emerging as a promising market for Nepal’s tourism sector. In 2025, Nepal welcomed more than 15,000 visitors from Russia, indicating a steady recovery and renewed interest among Russian travelers. Tourism officials believe that the number could grow significantly in the coming years with targeted promotion and improved connectivity.

Russian travelers are known for their strong interest in exploration, adventure tourism, and cultural discovery, experiences that Nepal offers in abundance. From trekking routes in the Himalayas and mountaineering adventures to UNESCO-listed heritage sites and spiritual retreats, Nepal presents a diverse range of attractions suited to the preferences of Russian tourists.

By participating in global tourism exhibitions such as MITT, Nepal aims to position itself more strongly in the Russian travel market and encourage greater tourist inflow. Tourism stakeholders believe that continued engagement with Russian travel operators, along with collaborative promotional initiatives, will play an important role in unlocking the market’s full potential and supporting the long-term growth of Nepal’s tourism industry.
