Rabi Prasad Acharya Triumphs as NTVA Gandaki Province President

Rabi Prasad Acharya has been unanimously elected as the new president of the Nepal Tourist Vehicle Association (NTVA), Gandaki Province, during the organization’s seventh Annual General Meeting and fourth convention of the Nepal Tourist Vehicle Association (NTVA), Gandaki Province.

The convention appointed Bikash Prasad Kandel as First Vice President and Bhuwani Prasad Adhikari as Second Vice President. Similarly, Shyam Prasad Lamichhane was elected General Secretary, while Shovakhar Tiwari assumed the role of Secretary.

In the financial roles, Suman Kunwar was elected Treasurer, and Sangita Adhikari Acharya as Assistant Treasurer. Committee members include Aanandaraj Adhikari, Rabindra Kunwar, Mitralal Adhikari, Pratik Lamichhane, and Suraj Sapkota.

Election Committee Formed under the Presidentship of Rabi Prasad Acharya

The election process was conducted under a committee coordinated by senior advocate Krishna Bahadur Thapa. Members of the committee included NTVA Central President Bhim Bahadur Gole Tamang, along with Madan Sharma, Som Bahadur Thapa, Mahesh Sapkota, Bobarjung Gurung, and Baburam Pandey.

The newly elected officials were honored with ceremonial khadas and garlands by former president Durgadatta Dahal, Taranath Pahari, Chief of Nepal Tourism Board, Gandaki Province Maniram Lamichhane, and NTVA Central General Secretary Bharat Timalsina, among others.

Commitment to Quality Tourist Transport

Addressing the gathering, newly elected President Acharya emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of tourist transport services and preserving the dignity and significance of green number plate vehicles. He expressed commitment to strengthening service standards in the sector.

Recognition and Awards

On the occasion, Acharya was also honored with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a certificate of appreciation for his contribution to tourism development through journalism.

The award was presented by Gandaki Province Assembly Member Ganeshman Gurung, former president Dahal, central chairperson Gole Tamang, and Pokhara Tourism Council President Pahari.

Additionally, Haridhoj Tulachan, credited for introducing green number plate tourist vehicles in Gandaki Province, was honored. Outstanding employees Shreeprasad Khatiwada and Indra Rana Magar were also recognized for their contributions.

Stakeholders Stress Sector Improvement

Speaking at the event, Province Assembly Member Gurung highlighted the significant role of green number plate vehicles in promoting Nepal’s tourism sector. He urged operators to maintain quality standards and collaborate in addressing existing challenges.

Former President Dahal noted that the association has been consistently working to make tourist transport services more organized and efficient.

Meanwhile, former president and advisor Gurung stressed the need for proper regulation of foreign vehicles operating in Nepal, emphasizing that they should be subject to the same tax obligations as domestic vehicles.

The event also featured remarks from Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, President Pahari, honoree Tulachan, General Secretary Timalsina, and other stakeholders. Discussions focused on the role of tourist transportation in Nepal’s tourism growth and the need for coordinated efforts to strengthen the sector.
