Indian climber Shivaji Nanaware has successfully reached the summit of Mount Dhaulagiri, marking his fifth successful ascent of an 8,000-meter mountain and adding another milestone to his growing mountaineering record.

According to Nivesh Karki, Executive Director of Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd., Nanaware successfully stood atop the 8,167-meter peak on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was accompanied during the ascent by experienced Nepali climbing guide Ang Dawa Sherpa. The successful summit of Dhaulagiri-I, the world’s seventh-highest mountain, further strengthens Nanaware’s position among notable high-altitude climbers.

Expanding List of 8,000-Meter Achievements

With this latest ascent, Nanaware has now successfully climbed five of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks. His mountaineering portfolio already includes some of the Himalayas’ most iconic summits, including Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu, and Mount Manaslu. His consistent achievements in high-altitude climbing have positioned him as one of the emerging figures in the global mountaineering community.

Historic Recognition as a Maharashtra Police Officer

Nanaware is also recognized as the first police officer from the Maharashtra Police to achieve multiple 8,000-meter summits, a milestone that adds a unique dimension to his mountaineering career.
