Tal Bahadur Kunwar, a seasoned hotelier from Kathekhola Rural Municipality-7, Resha, has experienced a significant boost in his business following a rise in tourist influx to Baglung. After leaving his teaching profession 20 years ago, Kunwar ventured into the hotel industry. Starting with just four rooms in a modest house, he has since expanded his establishment to 24 rooms, with a total investment now reaching NPR 20 million.
Kunwar’s hotel has gained a reputation as a ‘VIP’ accommodation in the region. The increase in both domestic and international tourist arrivals has led other local entrepreneurs to invest in well-equipped hotels, further enhancing the area’s hospitality sector. Notably, a new hotel with 30 rooms is nearing completion in Baglung Bazaar, promising to be a convenient option for visitors.
The rise in tourism has underscored the need for high-quality accommodations in the district. Kunwar recognized this demand and responded by developing his hotel to meet the needs of the growing number of tourists.
Arjun Chokhal, another prominent hotelier in Baglung, has also made significant investments in the local hospitality industry. Since 2008 BS, Chokhal has poured NPR 40 million into his hotel ventures, reflecting his commitment to the sector.
Baglung’s appeal to tourists is further enhanced by its attractions, including Kalika Temple, the world’s second-longest suspension bridge, Banji Bridge, Panchakot, and the Shalgram Museum. These destinations have drawn a substantial number of visitors, contributing to the flourishing hotel business in the district.
