Radisson Hotel Group Expands Verified Net Zero Portfolio with Four Nordic Hotels

Radisson Hotel Group has added four hotels in Stockholm and Copenhagen to its Verified Net Zero portfolio, taking the total number of independently verified properties across the Nordics and the UK to nine. The latest expansion of Radisson Hotel Group marks another step in the Group’s target of operating 100 Verified Net Zero hotels by 2030, while demonstrating that existing large-scale hotels and meetings and events venues can transition toward net-zero operations without compromising capacity, service or guest experience.

Four Radisson Blu Hotels Join Verified Net Zero Portfolio

The newly launched properties include three hotels in Stockholm, Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm, Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm, and Radisson Blu Arlandia Hotel, Stockholm-Arlanda, along with Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Copenhagen. The properties represent a mix of city-center, airport and large meetings and events hotels, giving the program a broader application across different operating environments. The expansion follows the recent launch of three Verified Net Zero hotels in Norway and builds on Radisson Hotel Group’s earlier pilot properties.

Focus on Large-Scale Meetings and Events

The Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm, located beside Stockholm Central Station and Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre, has 414 rooms and suites. The adjacent Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre provides 14,000 square meters of event space across 24 meeting rooms and can accommodate events for up to 3,000 participants. The venue incorporates sustainability measures including 1,040 square meters of solar panels and a cooling system using water from nearby Klara Sjö. The building is LEED Gold certified.

The Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm, located close to Stockholm Central Station, has 459 rooms and suites and 15 meeting rooms, with its largest meeting space accommodating up to 180 guests. The property also features an indoor pool, sauna, fitness center and rooftop HIGH Bar.

Meanwhile, the Radisson Blu Arlandia Hotel, Stockholm-Arlanda has 342 rooms and suites and is located approximately two kilometers from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Its 24 meeting rooms can accommodate up to 771 people, making the property suited to business travel, conferences and group events. In Copenhagen, the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel has 544 rooms and suites, 14 meeting and event spaces and capacity for more than 2,000 guests. The hotel, which first opened in 1973, has been launched as a Verified Net Zero property on September 30, 2026.

Renewable Energy and Lower-Carbon Operations

Radisson Hotel Group’s Verified Net Zero program covers emissions associated with hotel energy use as well as operational and supply-chain emissions under Scopes 1, 2 and 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Measures include the use of renewable electricity, electrification, energy-efficiency improvements, waste reduction, lower-carbon food and supply-chain initiatives.

At the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel and Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre, 100% renewable energy has been used since the facilities opened in 2011. The property also uses low-carbon menus, with recipe footprints reduced by an average of 40%. The Copenhagen property is supplied with 100% renewable electricity and uses demand-controlled LED lighting. It also operates 15 different waste-sorting fractions to improve recycling and waste management.

Low-Carbon Menus Introduced Across the Program

Radisson Hotel Group has partnered with Swedish specialist Klimato to assess the carbon footprint of food offerings, including breakfast buffets, in-room dining and Meetings & Events menus. The menus use carbon labels ranging from A, representing the lowest footprint, to E, the highest. The initiative emphasizes fresh and seasonal ingredients and has helped reduce the carbon footprint of selected recipes by up to 40%. The program also addresses emissions associated with laundry, amenities, supplies and other operational activities.

Independent Verification by TÜV Rheinland

Each Verified Net Zero hotel undergoes independent third-party verification by TÜV Rheinland against the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels. According to Radisson Hotel Group, the independent verification is intended to provide greater transparency and confidence to guests, corporate customers and meeting planners seeking lower-carbon accommodation and event options.

Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer at Radisson Hotel Group, said the latest launches demonstrate that net-zero hospitality can be scaled beyond pilot properties. “With four additional launches in Stockholm and Copenhagen, our Verified Net Zero program continues to gain momentum,” Huijbrechts said. “We now have nine Verified Net Zero Hotels across the Nordics and the UK, proving that net zero hospitality is no longer a concept or a pilot, it is a scalable reality.”

Sustainability and Business Efficiency

Radisson Hotel Group said the program is also designed to demonstrate how sustainability can support operational efficiency and long-term business resilience. Reducing energy and resource consumption can lower operating costs while helping hotels respond to increasing sustainability expectations from guests, owners and corporate clients.

Federico J. González, Global CEO of Radisson Hotel Group, said sustainability and business growth should be addressed together as the hospitality industry develops. “Growth and sustainability cannot be two separate conversations,” González said, adding that the lessons from the Verified Net Zero properties would help the Group expand the approach across its wider portfolio.

Target of 100 Verified Net Zero Hotels by 2030

With the four new Nordic properties, Radisson Hotel Group now has nine Verified Net Zero hotels across the Nordics and the UK. The Group aims to expand the program to 100 Verified Net Zero hotels by 2030. The latest additions also underline that net-zero operations are not limited to newly constructed hotels. Radisson is applying the program to established properties with complex infrastructure, large room inventories and significant meetings and events operations. The Group has also committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050 in line with Science Based Targets and is continuing to expand sustainability initiatives across its international portfolio.
