Sudden rainfall and snowfall have affected normal life in Humla district following a change in weather conditions that began on Tuesday night. While the higher elevations have experienced snowfall, lower parts of the district have been receiving intermittent rainfall, bringing colder conditions and disrupting transportation and daily activities.
Snowfall in Higher Reaches
Snowfall has been reported in mountainous and high-hill areas, including Namkha and Simkot, since Tuesday night. Meanwhile, lower-altitude areas such as Adanchuli and Tajakot have experienced light rainfall. The sudden weather change has brought a noticeable drop in temperatures, making daily activities difficult for local residents. People in higher areas have been particularly affected by the cold weather following the snowfall.

Muddy Roads Disrupt Transportation
Continuous rainfall has also created difficulties for transportation, with roads becoming muddy and slippery in several locations. Dipak Karki of Sarkegad-1 said vehicular movement has been disrupted after roads were obstructed at some places. The deteriorating road conditions have made movement more difficult for both vehicles and local residents. The rainfall has raised concerns about further disruption if the wet weather continues.

Farmers Worried About Crop Damage
The changing weather has also raised concerns among farmers in the district. Farmers are worried that continued rainfall could damage their paddy crops and vegetables grown in their fields. At a time when agricultural activities remain important for local livelihoods, prolonged rainfall could affect crops that are currently in the fields. Farmers are therefore closely monitoring the weather and its impact on their agricultural produce.

Rising Water Levels Raise Concern
Local residents have also become concerned after water flow in streams began increasing following the rainfall. The rising water levels have raised fears of possible problems in areas near streams and waterways, particularly if rainfall continues or intensifies. Meanwhile, snowfall in higher areas has made it difficult for residents to take their cattle out for grazing. The accumulation of snow and cold conditions have restricted livestock-related activities in some areas.

Police Urge Residents to Remain Alert
Authorities have urged residents to remain alert to possible risks associated with the sudden change in weather. Shankar Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Humla, said residents should remain cautious as rainfall and snowfall continue in different parts of the district.
The authorities are monitoring the situation and have advised locals to stay alert to potential damage caused by rainfall, snowfall, road obstructions and rising water levels. The sudden weather shift has disrupted transportation, agriculture, livestock activities and other aspects of daily life in Humla, with residents closely watching developments as rainfall and snowfall continue across different elevations of the district.
