TBAN Asks Government To Prioritize Dedicated Tourist Bus Park

Tourist Bus Association of Nepal (TBAN) has urged the government to prioritize the construction of a dedicated tourist bus park. The association pointed out that such a facility is essential for the comfort of tourists, organized transportation, and a better experience of Nepal’s tourism. The issue of the construction of a dedicated tourist bus park was raised by the association at its 15th Annual General Meeting and 8th Convention held in Kathmandu on October 9, 2026.

Government To Prioritize Dedicated Tourist Bus Park

TBAN Past President Bhimsen Neupane said that the association has repeatedly raised the issue of a dedicated tourist bus park in the past, which the government should seriously consider. He said that a tourist bus park is an integral part of tourism and its importance must be understood by the government, so that necessary action can be taken immediately.

“The importance of a dedicated tourist bus park should not be overlooked. International tourists, when they arrive or leave Nepal, require comfort, convenience, and security while traveling to the places of their interest and choice. The provision of these services, however, has become next to impossible due to the absence of a tourist bus parking facility in the country,” said TBAN Past President Neupane.

In this regard, TBAN Past President Neupane said that the government must start taking concrete actions to give a new impetus to tourism, instead of just making statements. TBAN Past President Neupane also said that it is high time the government prioritized the issue, took it out of the domain of rhetoric, and started taking concrete steps to construct the bus park.

TBAN to Enhance Better Tourist Experience Highlighted Transport Facilities

It must be noted that transport facilities play a very important role in determining the overall experience of Nepal’s tourism. Providing better transport facilities to the tourists and bringing orderliness in transportation services would facilitate their journey from the airport to the destinations of their choice and between the various destinations connected by buses.

Having a dedicated tourist bus park will also help organize the movement of buses in a more systematic manner, while making the overall experience much more comfortable for both the tourists and the transport operators. This, in turn, will also benefit the tourism business.

The TBAN also stressed the need for better transport facilities as well as proper infrastructure to ensure the comfort of the tourists, ease of doing business for the transport operators, and address the various issues pertaining to the movement of tourists in and across the country. In this regard, an effective coordination mechanism has to be established among the government, Nepal Tourism Board, tourism and transport business operators, workers, and other stakeholders to discuss and address the pertinent issues and provide proper infrastructure, including the construction of a dedicated tourist bus park.

Cross Border Tourist Bus Services Proposed For Future Development

Tourism entrepreneurs also discussed the need for developing cross border tourist bus services. The officials proposed a tourist bus service from Kathmandu to Lhasa and also the connection of major cities in Nepal, India, and their cross-border counterparts. They also expressed the hope that by providing such bus services, tourists will have a plethora of options for exploring Kathmandu Valley and other destinations, both within and outside of Nepal.

The members also said that they wanted to expand the scope of Nepal’s transportation service, both within the country and outside, provided that the required policy framework is created. However, the members said that the proposal for cross border tourist bus services must be considered carefully after conducting detailed feasibility studies.

Tourism Entrepreneurs Call On Government To Take Measures

TBAN General Secretary Prakash Chandra Adhikari appealed to the government to pay due attention to the development of transport services for the benefit of the tourists, facilitate their convenience, construct a dedicated bus park, and address the various problems faced by the tourism business operators.

Similarly, Treasurer Chiranjeevi Giri also stated that the government should take measures to address the woes of the tourism business, including the absence of a dedicated tourist bus parking facility. Shrikanta Acharya, former association President Prahlad Lohani, Ishwar Sharma, Krishna Acharya, and others were also present at the meeting. The organization reiterated the need for the government to take concrete steps to fulfill the old demands by constructing a tourist bus park. This will also contribute to the development of Nepal’s tourism by facilitating convenient transport services for the tourists.
