The country is currently experiencing the effects of monsoon winds, with the monsoon trough line positioned near its average location, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
On Sunday morning, the influence of the monsoon resulted in widespread cloud cover across the country, with light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning occurring in many parts of the Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Other provinces also experienced light to moderate rainfall in some areas.
The weather forecast for Sunday afternoon indicates that Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces will see mostly to fully cloudy skies, while other provinces will have partly to generally cloudy conditions. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected in some parts of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and isolated locations in the remaining provinces.
The Department also warns of the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated locations within Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
For Sunday night, the forecast suggests that most parts of the country will continue to experience partly to generally cloudy skies, with light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas across all provinces. Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in a few places in Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
