Mobile phone services have been successfully restored in Thame of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-5, Solukhumbu, following severe disruptions caused by massive flooding.
Nepal Telecom announced in a press statement today that it has reinstated its services in the region. The disruption occurred after the Khumbu glacier lake outburst on August 16, leading to the closure of Nepal Telecom’s BTS towers in Thame, Namche, Khumjung, and Pani Tanki.
In response to the crisis, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung directed Nepal Telecom to expedite the restoration of telecommunications in Thame, urging the implementation of alternative measures to ensure connectivity. The flooding has significantly damaged both private and public structures in the affected area.
