The monsoon’s influence remains strong across Nepal, with the monsoon trough slightly north of its average position, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Weather Forecast Division.
Currently, most parts of the country are experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Isolated places in other provinces are also seeing similar weather patterns.
For the afternoon, the forecast indicates that partial to general cloud cover will persist across the country. There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in some locations of all provinces. Heavy rainfall is expected in a few places within Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in isolated spots in other regions.
Tonight, the country will continue to experience partial to general cloud cover. Some areas in Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, along with a few locations in other provinces, may witness light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms. There is also a possibility of heavy rain in a few spots within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
The Department has issued a warning for areas at risk of heavy rainfall, urging residents to be vigilant against potential disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion. These risks could disrupt daily life, agriculture, health services, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air transport in the affected regions. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of these hazards.
