Monsoon Winds Impacting Weather Across Nepal: Heavy Rain Expected in Some Regions

The monsoon winds continue to influence weather conditions across Nepal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The monsoon trough is currently positioned south of its average location in the western region and near its average location in the eastern region. As a result, the weather across the country is mostly cloudy with light rainfall occurring in a few places in Gandaki and Bagmati provinces.

For the rest of the day, the weather is expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas. Heavy rainfall is also likely in one or two locations within Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, as mentioned in the weather forecast bulletin issued by the department.

Tonight, the hilly regions of Nepal are expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. Light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, is anticipated in a few areas within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, and in one or two places in other provinces.

The department has also forecasted the possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in some areas of the country over the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations within Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. Due to this, there is a risk of natural disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion in these regions. The department has urged the public to remain cautious as these conditions could impact daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road travel, and air transportation in the affected areas.
