New Executive Committee Elected Unanimously at Pokhara Tourism Council

A new executive committee, led by Taranath Pahari, has been unanimously elected at the Pokhara Tourism Council. The election took place during the council’s 24th Annual General Assembly and 13th Convention held today in Pokhara.

Taranath Pahari, the founding president of the Village Tourism Promotion Forum Nepal (VITOF) Gandaki Province, will lead the newly elected committee. The committee members include Hari Bhujel, Chaubahadur Gurung, Baburam Pandey, Nim Magar, Jeevan Sapkota, and Narayan Subedi. An additional three members will be selected to complete the committee.

The council is comprised of 14 tourism-related associations, including the Hotel Association, Restaurant and Bar Association (REBAN), Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), and Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN).

During the inauguration of the general assembly and convention, Bindukumar Thapa, the Minister of Social Development and Health of Gandaki Province, emphasized the need to promote various water tourism activities to extend tourists’ stay in Pokhara.

The event, chaired by the outgoing council president Pom Narayan Shrestha, saw participation from key figures including Gandaki Province Tourism Secretary Kuman Singh Gurung, Kaski Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey, Council Vice President Krishna Prasad Bhandari, and General Secretary Sanjay Kanta Sigdel, all of whom highlighted tourism as the foundation for the prosperity of Gandaki Province, including Pokhara.

Newly elected President Pahari stated that since Pokhara has been declared the tourism capital, the new committee is committed to further establishing this status through comprehensive development of the tourism sector. He emphasized the importance of accelerating the construction of road networks connecting Pokhara and pushing for the commencement of international flights from Pokhara International Airport as a priority.
