Vehicular movement has come to a standstill on the Karnali Highway due to severe landslides triggered by persistent heavy rains. The latest disruption occurred at Gagnekhola in Kalikot along the Surkhet-Jumla road, causing significant delays and affecting travel plans for tourists and locals alike.
Bir Bahadur GT, Public Information Officer at the Road Division Office in Jumla, confirmed that the highway has been obstructed following the landslide. Emergency response teams are currently working to clear the debris and restore normal traffic flow. However, the Karnali Highway, a vital route for tourism and transportation in the region, has faced recurring landslides at several points including Dahikhola, Gagnekhola, Esmod, and Hulm in the Kalikot section.
Tourists planning to visit the Karnali region should be aware of potential travel delays and disruptions. Authorities are urging travelers to check for road updates and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
