The airfare between Simara and Kathmandu has recently been reduced, as private-sector airlines compete to attract more passengers. The reduction in fares comes in response to recent delays at Simara Airport, which have caused frustration among travelers.
Yeti Airlines has cut its one-way fare from Simara to Kathmandu to NPR 515, and from Kathmandu to Simara to NPR 430. Damodar Tiwari, Simara Station Chief at Yeti Airlines, emphasized that the fare reduction is part of their effort to enhance passenger satisfaction and regain trust through improved punctuality and service.
Similarly, Buddha Air has also reduced its fares by NPR 160, bringing the new rate to NPR 3,600. This move is intended to accommodate increased passenger demand and offer competitive pricing.
Surya Bahadur Khadka, Chief of Simara Airport, explained that private airlines are offering discounts based on the government-mandated minimum fare rates. He also noted that the airport authority is accelerating infrastructure development to enhance safety and facilities for both passengers and aircraft.
This reduction in airfare is expected to benefit not only local industries and businesses in the Pathlaiya-Birganj Industrial Corridor but also attract residents from Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Rautahat, and Indian tourists.
