After a three-month hiatus, flights have resumed at Suketar Airport, which had been non-operational since May 24th due to adverse weather conditions. The resumption of flights was made possible by the gradual improvement in weather, which had previously caused low visibility and disrupted operations.
Narayan Kumar Karki, the head of Nepal Airlines in Taplejung, confirmed that the visibility issues had been resolved, allowing flights between Kathmandu and Taplejung to resume. He also noted that the tourist season has begun, further supporting the decision to restart flights.
The first flight after the long break carried four passengers from Kathmandu to Taplejung and two passengers from Taplejung to Kathmandu. For now, flights are scheduled once a week, every Wednesday, until October 1st. After this date, Nepal Airlines plans to increase the frequency to three flights per week. The fare for the Kathmandu-Taplejung route has been set at Rs 9,475 per passenger.
