NATTA and USAID Trade and Competitiveness Announce New Strategic Partnership

The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has officially announced a new strategic partnership with USAID Trade and Competitiveness. This collaboration is set to bolster Nepal’s tourism sector and enhance the competitiveness of travel businesses in the region.

During the announcement in Kathmandu today, NATTA President Kumar Mani Thapaliya highlighted that the partnership aims to significantly strengthen Nepal’s tourism industry and improve the competitiveness of travel businesses. Thapaliya emphasized that this initiative is a crucial step toward revitalizing and ensuring sustainable development in Nepal’s tourism sector following the COVID-19 pandemic.

He explained, “Under this partnership, NATTA and USAID will focus on initiatives to enhance capabilities in digital marketing, search engine optimization, and business strategies. We believe these efforts will help expand the international recognition of Nepali tour operators, promoting Nepal as a leading destination for cultural and adventure tourism.”

In addition to capacity-building programs, the partnership will also address policy reforms and research initiatives. Thapaliya noted, “Through our collaboration with USAID, we are not only improving marketing and professional skills but also advocating for policy reforms and conducting research to shape the future of the tourism industry. We are confident that this partnership will make a significant contribution to the long-term development of Nepal’s tourism sector and provide a new roadmap for growth.”

The partnership will be operational from September 2024 to September 2026. Both parties are committed to advancing initiatives that create long-term employment, promote sales growth, and ensure economic development in Nepal’s tourism sector.
