Puspa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, has underscored the pivotal role of the tourism sector in Nepal’s economic development. Addressing a gathering of hotel and tourism business representatives in Bardibas this evening, Dahal emphasized that tourism, alongside agriculture and water resources, forms the cornerstone of the nation’s economic growth and prosperity.
Dahal highlighted the need for modern, technology-driven development in these key sectors to foster economic advancement. “For the country’s economic prosperity, agriculture, water resources, and tourism are the main foundations,” Dahal stated. He called for adopting cutting-edge technologies to drive the development of these sectors and harness the latest advancements in information technology and science for Nepal’s progress.
Focusing on Bardibas, located in the heart of the Madhes region, Dahal pointed out its significant potential for tourism development. He recounted efforts made during his tenure to initiate new projects aimed at enhancing the region’s tourism prospects.
During the event, Gunj Bahadur Karki, Chairman of the Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association of Mahottari, drew attention to several notable tourist sites in Bardibas. These include the Middle Stone Age weapon factory found in Bardibas-3 Patu, Raimandal Dham, Giddhabas, Siddha Gufa, Panchdhura Maimandir, Tuteshwar Nath, and Chanautedanda. Karki stressed the importance of infrastructure development at these sites to boost tourism in the Madhes Province.
Bardibas Chamber of Commerce President Vishnu Khadka also appealed to former Prime Minister Dahal for facilitation in the development of tourism infrastructure in Bardibas, urging state support to advance these initiatives.
