A FlyDubai flight bound for Kathmandu from Dubai was redirected to Lucknow, India, shortly after it entered Nepalese airspace on Saturday. The aircraft, operating under the call sign Sky Dubai 539, had just crossed into Nepal at 2:41 PM when worsening weather conditions forced a diversion.
Tribhuvan International Airport’s spokesperson, Rinji Sherpa, explained that the sudden change in the flight path was due to adverse weather. “Once the plane entered Nepalese airspace, it was redirected to Lucknow because of poor weather conditions,” Sherpa stated.
The aircraft is scheduled to continue returning to Kathmandu once the weather conditions are reassessed and cleared for safe travel.
