Airline operators have decided not to sell tickets at the government-imposed maximum airfare rates until Wednesday.
According to Manoj Karki, the President of the Airline Operators Association, this decision will be effective from Monday to Wednesday. During this period, airlines will refrain from selling tickets at the upper fare limit set by the government.
The government regulates the maximum ceiling for domestic airfares, and airlines often sell tickets at this higher limit, especially during times of ticket shortages. On Sunday, the airlines faced criticism for selling all available tickets at the maximum allowed price.
The airlines have also drawn attention to the need for fuel price relief, noting that if the government provides subsidies on aviation fuel, they could offer flights at lower fares to passengers under the current circumstances.
This decision comes after public backlash, and airlines are aiming to ease the burden on passengers during the ongoing crisis.
