Flight Operations Resume at Rumjatar Airport After Nearly Five Years

Flight services have resumed at Rumjatar Airport today after a hiatus of nearly five years. In the past, Nepal Airlines operated regular flights on the Kathmandu-Rumjatar route, and today, Summit Air conducted a test flight to mark the return of air service to the region.

Summit Air’s flight from Kathmandu landed at Rumjatar carrying 18 passengers, including a four-member crew. The resumption of flights comes as a relief for locals, especially after heavy rains caused floods that led to the closure of the BP Highway, making direct road travel difficult.

According to Member of Parliament Ramhari Khatiwada, efforts are being made to establish regular flights at the airport. Summit Air will provide service every Sunday, and Nepal Airlines will offer flights every Wednesday. The fare for the Kathmandu-Rumjatar flight has been set at NPR 4,500.

The reinstatement of air travel is expected to provide much-needed convenience for travelers and boost connectivity in the area.
