The government has formed a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive study of Nepal’s civil aviation sector. The decision was made during the Cabinet meeting on October 18, establishing a committee chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, the committee was formed to analyze and provide recommendations for the development of a safe, reliable, and credible civil aviation system in Nepal.
The committee members include aviation management expert Rajendra Bahadur Singh, aviation safety expert Bhesh Raj Subedi, aviation service operations and quality management expert Captain Riwaj Prasad Pradhan, and a joint secretary from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
Ministry spokesperson Ram Krishna Lamichhane stated that the committee was formed to suggest necessary reforms to enhance aviation safety and ensure Nepal’s airspace is secure. The committee will study the sector comprehensively and propose improvements.
Today, the Minister of Tourism, Badri Prasad Pandey, officially handed over the appointment letters and responsibilities to the committee members, urging them to begin their work promptly. The committee has been tasked with reviewing previous suggestions and recommendations and submitting a unified proposal for their implementation.
This initiative aims to bring significant improvements to Nepal’s civil aviation sector, ensuring it meets international safety and operational standards.
