Qatar Airways is set to launch direct flights between Doha and Bhairahawa’s Gautam Buddha International Airport starting November 12 (Kartik 27). According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, General Manager of Gautam Buddha International Airport, Qatar Airways has sought flight approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to operate this route.
The airline has requested permission to operate daily flights, and if approved by CAAN, Qatar Airways will initiate service this Tuesday. The Civil Aviation Authority has indicated it is preparing to approve to allow Qatar Airways to commence flights as scheduled.
Gautam Buddha International Airport recently saw an expansion in its international flight offerings, with Thai AirAsia, Jazeera Airways, Fly Dubai, and Nepal Airlines starting commercial flights from Bhairahawa as of Kartik 18. The addition of Qatar Airways is expected to further strengthen Bhairahawa’s connectivity, boosting both tourism and business travel options between Nepal and Qatar.
