Qatar Airways Begins Regular Flights to Gautam Buddha International Airport

In a significant boost to Nepal’s aviation connectivity, Qatar Airways commenced regular flights to Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Bhairahawa starting Tuesday. This marks a milestone for the airport, as it continues to expand its international services.

The wide-body aircraft from Qatar touched down at GBIA at 2:45 p.m., carrying 33 passengers, according to airport information officer Binod Singh Rawat. Following its arrival, the flight departed for Kathmandu at 4:45 p.m., marking the beginning of Qatar Airways’ regular operations from Bhairahawa.

With the addition of Qatar Airways, GBIA now hosts five international airlines, a development anticipated to drive economic growth and promote tourism in the Lumbini region, home to the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The introduction of regular flights by Qatar Airways is expected to provide travelers with enhanced access to international destinations, establishing GBIA as a vital hub for international travel in Nepal.
