The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Jomsom Regional Conservation Office, held a public hearing to present the annual audit report of the Kunjo Conservation Area Management Committee. The event highlighted the achievements and initiatives undertaken by the committee over the past year, ensuring transparency and accountability in conservation efforts.
Public Hearing: A Platform for Community Engagement
The annual audit report presentation was part of a public hearing initiative designed to engage local communities in conservation activities and financial management. The session allowed stakeholders, including residents, conservation officials, and representatives from community-based organizations, to discuss the committee’s financial activities and their impact on the conservation and sustainable development of the area.

Flour Mill Distributed to Kunjo Women’s Group
As part of the event, a flour mill (pisaan machine) was handed over to the Kunjo Women’s Group (Kunjo Aama Samuha). This initiative aims to empower the women’s group by providing them with tools to enhance their livelihoods while supporting conservation-friendly activities. The flour mill is expected to ease daily household chores and open avenues for small-scale local entrepreneurship.
Promoting Sustainable Development
The NTNC and ACAP are committed to balancing environmental conservation with the socio-economic development of local communities. By fostering initiatives like the provision of a flour mill and public hearings for audit reports, these organizations continue to strengthen the participation of local communities in conservation efforts. The event concluded with an interactive discussion, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining the ecological and cultural heritage of the Annapurna Conservation Area.
