Following his successful ascent of Mount Ama Dablam, 64-year-old Austrian Martin Hornegger died. With authorization from Snowy Horizon Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd., he was a part of the “Snowy Ama Dablam Expedition Spring 2025” team.
On April 26, Hornegger made it to the top of Ama Dablam. But he disappeared as he descended the mountain. The Area Police Office in Namche, Solukhumbu, carried out a search operation in response to a request from the expedition agency. He was discovered dead at the foot of Mount Ama Dablam during the search.
Around 4:30 PM on Thursday, his body was found and taken to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, for a post-mortem, according to the Department of Tourism. Additionally, the department has said that it is working with the agency to manage the body and return it to its nation of origin.
