Bridgewater International College, Sinamangal, Kathmandu, recently hosted the grand ‘Food Festival 2082’, a one-day culinary celebration led by students studying Hotel Management in grades 11 and 12. The festival, aptly named ‘Bite and Delight Fest’, was inaugurated by Mr. Suresh Baral, President of the District Hotel Entrepreneurs Association (DHEA), Kathmandu, and presided over by the College Principal, Mr. Krishna Paudel. The event aimed to provide an integrated experience of taste, entertainment, and cultural activities by bringing together students, teachers, and staff under one roof.

Showcasing Culinary Talent by the Students of Bridgewater International College
This year, the festival featured 13 food stalls presenting a total of 26 different dishes, carefully prepared by the students themselves. The menu offered a rich variety ranging from traditional local delicacies to international cuisine. Students showcased their creativity and culinary skills, not only preparing the dishes but also personally engaging with visitors at each stall. They explained the origin, preparation methods, and unique characteristics of the dishes, turning the festival into an educational experience as well as a gastronomic delight.
Engaging Activities and Entertainment
Beyond food, the festival offered a lively lineup of activities designed to entertain and engage attendees. Highlights included live cooking shows, cultural performances, food tasting sessions, fun games, and photography competitions. These activities amplified the festive atmosphere, keeping participants excited and involved throughout the day. The combination of culinary excellence and interactive experiences made the festival a holistic platform for learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation.

Words from the Dignitaries
During the inauguration, Mr. Suresh Baral, the chief guest and President of the District Hotel Entrepreneurs Association, emphasized the vast potential of students’ skills and talents in the domestic hospitality sector. He noted that promoting authentic local cuisine could enhance Nepal’s appeal among international visitors, thereby contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.
College Principal Mr. Krishna Paudel, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, said, “Our goal is not just to limit students’ learning within the classroom but to equip them with diverse life skills. Programs like the Food Festival help develop leadership, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and cultural respect.”

Community and Educational Impact
The festival successfully combined education, creativity, and community engagement. By allowing students to lead, plan, and execute the event, Bridgewater International College provided a real-world platform for experiential learning. Students gained hands-on experience in culinary arts, customer interaction, and event management, preparing them for future careers in the hospitality industry.
Furthermore, the festival fostered a sense of collective effort and responsibility, encouraging students to appreciate teamwork and cultural diversity. The initiative also strengthened ties between the college, parents, alumni, and the local community, creating a shared celebration of talent and culture.

Bridgewater International College has expressed plans to expand such creative, educational, and community-focused programs in the coming years, aiming to elevate them to a wider and even international audience. The college administration also extended heartfelt thanks to parents, students, alumni, and the local community for their continuous support and enthusiastic participation, which made the festival a resounding success.
The success of ‘Bite and Delight Fest’ reflects the college’s commitment to nurturing holistic education, combining academic knowledge with practical skills and cultural values, thereby contributing meaningfully to Nepal’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
