British Airways has announced special promotional fares to mark its return to Sri Lanka after more than 11 years, restoring direct air connectivity between London and Colombo and creating new travel opportunities between the United Kingdom and the island nation.
The airline’s inaugural flight arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport on October 23, 2026, marking the resumption of its services to Sri Lanka. To celebrate the return, British Airways is offering up to 10% savings on economy class return tickets, with fares from Colombo to London Gatwick starting at LKR 255,000.

British Airways Restores Direct London–Colombo Flights
British Airways has resumed direct flights between London Gatwick and Colombo, operating three times a week throughout the 2026/27 winter season. The flights are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, using Boeing 777 aircraft to serve passengers travelling between the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.
The resumption of the route after more than 11 years restores a direct connection between the two destinations, providing additional travel options for tourists, business travellers and other passengers. The service is also expected to support stronger links between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom by improving access for visitors travelling in both directions.

Special Promotional Fares for a Limited Period
To mark its return, British Airways is offering up to 10% savings on economy class return tickets. Promotional fares from Colombo to London Gatwick start at LKR 255,000, giving travellers an opportunity to access the restored route at special prices. The offer is available for bookings made until November 15, 2026, subject to availability. Eligible outbound travel dates are from October 20 to November 30, 2026, while return journeys must take place between October 26 and December 10, 2026. Travellers are encouraged to check the applicable fare conditions and availability when making their reservations.
Sri Lankan-Inspired Dining Experience for Business Class Passengers
Alongside the promotional fares, British Airways has partnered with Hoppers London to introduce a special Sri Lankan-inspired dining experience for passengers travelling to Colombo in Club World, the airline’s business class cabin. The collaboration adds a local culinary element to the passenger experience, reflecting Sri Lanka’s food culture as the airline reconnects with the destination. The initiative also forms part of the airline’s efforts to mark its return with an experience that reflects the character and identity of the country.

Resumed Air Link Expected to Support Sri Lanka Tourism
The return of British Airways is expected to strengthen tourism, trade and business connectivity between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. The UK is Sri Lanka’s second-largest tourism source market in 2026, making the restored direct connection particularly significant for the country’s visitor economy.
The renewed service provides greater convenience for UK travellers planning visits to Sri Lanka while also supporting travel from Colombo to London. With direct flights operating three times weekly, the route is expected to contribute to improved international accessibility and reinforce air links between the two countries during the 2026/27 winter season.
