On the occasion of Chaite Dashain, a grand fair has been traditionally held at the famous Kalika Temple in Baglung. This fair is also considered a hallmark event representing Baglung. One of Nepal’s most significant fairs, the Chaitrashthami Fair, is set to take place from Chaitra 20 to Chaitra 25 this year, as announced by the Baglung Kalika Bhagwati Guthi Management Committee.

Every year, during Chaite Dashain, a fair is organized on the premises of the renowned religious and tourist destination, Baglung Kalika Bhagwati Temple. During this festival, hundreds of thousands of devotees visit the Kalika Bhagwati Temple for worship. According to Kumar Khadka, chairman of the Guthi Management Committee, the fair is organized to promote tourism, preserve culture, promote local products, and continue traditional practices.

Historical records of the temple mention that King Pratapinarayan Malla of Parbat received the idol of Goddess Kalika as part of the dowry when he married a princess from Palpa. When they tried to move the idol after placing it in the dense jungle, they could not do so, leading to its establishment at the same site, where worship has continued ever since.
Since ancient times, people have bought household items like baskets, trays, containers, and weapons at the Chaite Dashain fair. Devotees from distant districts and even from India come to worship at the Baglung Kalika Temple during this festival.

As part of the fair, the winners of the men’s volleyball tournament will receive a cash prize of NPR 200,000 along with a trophy, medal, and certificate. The runners-up will receive NPR 100,000 with a trophy, medal, and certificate, while the semi-finalist teams will receive NPR 25,000 each along with medals and certificates. Additionally, the best player of the tournament will be awarded NPR 5,000, a trophy, and a certificate.
