Chandragiri Hills, one of Nepal’s most popular tourism and recreational destinations, has announced that it will reopen on Saturday, November 8, 2025, following a temporary suspension of operations.
Earlier, the management had issued an official notice titled “Where Wishes Come True”, informing the public that both the cable car service and resort facilities would remain closed until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances. The closure followed an incident of vandalism on Bhadra 24, 2082 (Nepali calendar), when a group of individuals allegedly caused deliberate damage to the cable car infrastructure.

According to company officials, necessary repair and safety inspections have now been completed, allowing the iconic hill station to welcome visitors once again.
Restoration and Safety Measures Completed
Chandragiri Hills management stated that the reopening follows weeks of technical assessments and maintenance work to ensure full operational safety. “We are pleased to inform our valued guests that the Chandragiri cable car and resort will resume regular services from November 8. We thank everyone for their patience and continued support,” the statement read.
The company has also reinforced security protocols and implemented new monitoring systems to prevent similar incidents in the future. Officials expressed confidence that the reopening will help restore momentum in domestic tourism ahead of the winter season.

Blending Nature, Spirituality, and Luxury
Located on the western outskirts of Kathmandu, Chandragiri Hills has established itself as a favorite destination among both domestic and international tourists. The site offers panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and the majestic Himalayan range, including peaks like Mt. Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang on clear days.
The cable car ride to the hilltop provides an exhilarating experience, while attractions such as the Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, children’s park, botanical garden, and the hilltop resort offer visitors a complete blend of adventure, spirituality, and relaxation. With the reopening, the management expects an increase in visitor flow, contributing to the revival of local tourism and hospitality businesses.
