China Southern Airlines has announced the expansion of its Nepal-China flight services starting from April 10. The airline will resume its nightly flights between Kathmandu and Guangzhou from April to October. According to the airline, the Kathmandu-Guangzhou flight will depart daily at 11:30 PM. Additionally, the afternoon flight schedule has been adjusted, with the new departure time for Kathmandu-Guangzhou now set for 12:50 PM.
“From April 10 to May, the afternoon flight will operate only on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. From June to August, it will operate only on Sundays and Thursdays. From September to October, the afternoon flight will operate daily,” the airline stated in its announcement.
China Southern also plans to significantly increase the number of seats during this period. Around 45,000 seats will be available from Kathmandu to Guangzhou, and over 46,000 seats from Guangzhou to Kathmandu. According to the company, this represents a 16.5% increase (6,000 additional seats) for Kathmandu-Guangzhou and a 39.9% increase (13,000 additional seats) for Guangzhou-Kathmandu compared to last year. The increase in flights and seat capacity is expected to boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between China and Nepal.
