China will introduce more policies to promote tourism development, according to Wang Shuang, a deputy to the National People’s Congress and chairwoman of The Millennium City Park in Kaifeng, Henan province.

Wang highlighted that the tourism industry is transitioning from rapid recovery to a phase of sustained growth. However, challenges remain, particularly in the high-end custom tour market, which is expanding rapidly with the rise of immersive performances and experiential travel. While tourist spending habits are becoming more rational, the current supply system struggles to meet the increasing diversity of consumer demands in China.

To address these issues, Wang proposed targeted tax policies to stimulate businesses, deeper financial market reforms to expand funding options for tourism enterprises, and a comprehensive financial support system to resolve funding challenges in the industry.

The Millennium City Park, which recreates scenes from the famous 12th-century scroll painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival, integrates traditional culture with modern technology to offer immersive experiences. The park attracted 8 million visitors last year, showcasing the growing appeal of cultural tourism in China.

Wang emphasized the central government’s commitment to making tourism a strategic pillar industry closely linked to economic growth and public well-being. She expressed optimism about the sector’s future, driven by supportive policies and increasing demand.
