Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya, recognized the significant role of tourism in boosting the rural economy of Nepal. During a visit to the Kange Deurali Reservoir and a drinking water project in Madane Rural Municipality-6, Gulmi district, on Saturday, he emphasized the provincial government’s focus on promoting tourism and strengthening the rural economy by utilizing local resources.
CM Acharya highlighted the importance of drinking water projects in districts like Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, and Pyuthan, expressing confidence that such initiatives would generate local employment opportunities. He stressed the need for the three levels of government to work together to push forward drinking water projects.
The CM revealed that the Lumbini provincial government is planning to create a tourism circuit connecting Lumbini’s cultural, historical, and natural landmarks. He believes this circuit will encourage tourists to extend their stays, thus boosting the local economy.
Describing Lumbini Province as ‘Mini Nepal’ due to its diverse geography, which includes tarai, hills, and mountains, Acharya stated that preserving key archaeological sites and attracting international tourists is essential for economic growth, job creation, and social transformation in the province.
The provincial government has prioritized infrastructure development, service delivery improvements, and the promotion of tourism to enhance local tourism. CM Acharya also mentioned that policy reforms and creating an investment-friendly climate are key agendas for the development and promotion of sustainable tourism.
