Devghat Maha Mahotsav Triumphs: 25+ Lakh Devotees Unite in Spiritual Celebration

The one-month-long Maha Mahotsav held at the sacred Devghat Dham successfully concluded on Wednesday. Organized on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, the event was hosted by the Vishwa Jagaran Maha Abhiyan Trust, Chitwan, to promote religious tourism and support social welfare projects.

The closing ceremony of the Maha Mahotsav was led by Pithadhish Mahamandaleshwar 1008 Swami Atmananda Giriji Maharaj at Galeshwar Ashram in Devghat. In his concluding remarks, Swami Atmananda emphasized that Devghat, one of Nepal’s most significant pilgrimage sites, should continue hosting such grand spiritual festivals regularly to preserve and promote its religious importance.

The event was spearheaded by Bhagwat Katha Bachak Ishwor Krishna Maharaj, a patron of the Bishwa Jagaran Maha Abhiyan Trust. He expressed his gratitude towards the devotees’ love, support, and contributions, which made it possible to sustain the month-long Maha Mahotsav. He further announced that the funds collected during the event would be utilized for the construction of Matapita Sewa Ashram and Devghat Divya Dham.

According to the organizers, the Maha Mahotsav was primarily held to raise funds for the completion of the 365-room Matapita Sewa Ashram, which is currently under construction in Devghat Rural Municipality-5, Tanahun. This long-term residential facility is being built to provide shelter and care for elderly citizens and destitute individuals.

The Vishwa Jagaran Maha Abhiyan Trust reported that more than 25 lakh devotees attended the Maha Mahotsav, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in Nepal. The festival successfully raised over NPR 20 crore, which will be transparently disclosed in a press conference soon, as stated by Ishwor Krishna Maharaj.

The Maha Mahotsav witnessed the participation of prominent figures from Nepal’s political and administrative sectors. Federal and provincial ministers from Gandaki and Bagmati Provinces, leaders of major political parties, Members of Parliament from the House of Representatives, National Assembly, and Provincial Assemblies, as well as high-ranking government officials, were in attendance.

The religious event featured discourses from renowned spiritual leaders and storytellers. Popular Katha Vachaks, including Devi Pratibha, Anuradha Pandey, Om Prakash Subedi, and Yashoda Mata, enriched the festival with their powerful narrations, inspiring spiritual awakening among devotees.

The Maha Mahotsav at Devghat Dham has set a remarkable example of religious tourism, community service, and spiritual enlightenment. The overwhelming participation and financial support reflect the deep-rooted faith and cultural significance of Devghat as a sacred pilgrimage destination in Nepal.
