Devotees Flock to Budhasubba Temple for Offerings After Bol Bam Festival in Dharan

With the conclusion of the Bol Bam festival, the Budhasubba Temple in Vijaypur, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-14, Sunsari, has seen a surge in devotees coming to make offerings. The temple had temporarily suspended the ritual of animal sacrifices and offerings throughout the month of Shrawan, leading to a significant increase in visitors now that the practice has resumed.

Sumana Khatri from Biratnagar mentioned that she had come to fulfill her vow at the temple as offerings were not permitted during Shrawan. Similarly, Atit Tamang from Ilam also visited Budhasubba Temple to fulfill his vow.

The resumption of offerings has led to a large influx of devotees, who typically bring roosters, eggs, and fruits for the rituals. At Budhasubba, it is customary to offer a rooster and, in some cases, a hen or an egg, depending on the deity’s preference.

Prem Parajuli, a flower vendor near the temple, noted that the number of devotees has significantly increased after the restrictions on offerings were lifted, resulting in a boost in business for flower vendors. Over 70 flower vendors operate near the Budhasubba Temple.

According to the temple priest, Dambar Ale Magar, more than 5,000 devotees are visiting the temple daily to make offerings and fulfill vows. He explained, “The temple had temporarily halted animal sacrifices and offerings during Shrawan. Since Bhadra began, the number of devotees coming to offer sacrifices and fulfill their vows has surged.”

The practice of suspending offerings at Budhasubba Temple is observed during specific religious occasions, including Shrawan, Solha Shraddha, Ekadashi, Krishna Ashtami, Swasthani Purnima, and Ram Navami.
