The DIGO Project has signed a partnership agreement with Landmark Hotels and Resorts in Pokhara to jointly promote greener, more inclusive, and sustainable hospitality practices within Nepal’s tourism sector.
Supported financially by Swisscontact Nepal, the collaboration aims to help the hotel implement practical sustainability solutions focused on environmental responsibility, community engagement, and long-term business resilience.

According to the partners, the initiative will focus on improving water efficiency, reducing operational waste, encouraging responsible sourcing practices, and strengthening connections with local communities and sustainable supply chains.

Focus on Sustainable Transition and Capacity Building
As part of the agreement, Landmark Hotels and Resorts will work closely with the DIGO Project to develop a comprehensive Sustainability Transition Plan designed to guide the hotel’s long-term environmental and operational goals.
The partnership will also emphasize leadership development and staff training on sustainable tourism practices to strengthen awareness and improve implementation across hotel operations. In addition, the collaboration seeks to enhance the hotel’s sustainability-focused branding and market positioning, helping the property align with growing international demand for responsible tourism and eco-conscious hospitality experiences.

Strengthening Local and Global Tourism Networks
Organizers stated that the initiative will connect Landmark Hotels and Resorts with local sustainable suppliers as well as international expertise in sustainable hospitality management. The collaboration is expected to encourage knowledge sharing and help establish stronger sustainability standards within Nepal’s tourism industry. The partners emphasized that sustainable tourism not only benefits the environment but also contributes to stronger local economies, community development, and long-term business growth.

Building a Model for Responsible Hospitality
Through the initiative, Landmark Hotels and Resorts aims to position itself as a leading example of responsible hospitality in Nepal. Officials involved in the partnership said the project reflects a growing shift within the tourism sector toward environmentally responsible operations and socially inclusive business models.
Tourism stakeholders believe such collaborations are increasingly important as Nepal seeks to strengthen its image as a sustainable tourism destination while balancing economic growth with environmental conservation. The partnership is also expected to inspire other hospitality businesses in Nepal to adopt sustainable practices and invest in greener tourism solutions for the future.
